in Denver, Colorado (at Denver General Hospital I believe.) In the beginning, you lived in our home with your mother, grandmother, and two aunts, Jane and Anne, who all adored you. Everyone helped care for you; Jane and I took turns getting up for your night feedings. We watched you grow into an adorable golden-haired, blue-eyed toddler who often seemed invincible. You were the light of our lives for that small space of time in the early '70's. Your Uncle Greg was living at home at the time also.Your mom, Alice, was a circus performer. She was a noted trapeze artist, animal trainer, horseback rider, and aerobatics specialist. In truth, she did just about everything. She's the oldest of four children, with a brother and two sisters. This post is written by her youngest sister anne. I adored Alice.
Alice suffered some terrible things in her youth and left home when she was just 15 to join her first circus. It was a hard life but she did well for many years. When Ringling Brothers came to town we got to go see the train she traveled on, always had front row seats and back-stage passes to meet the performers. She often brought her circus friends home for dinner when she was in town.A couple years after you were born, Alice was offered a position with an act that was touring the Hawaiian Islands. So she took you and went off to Honolulu to start a new life. Circumstances weren't what she'd expected. At some point a year or so later, unable to care for you on her own, your mother relinquished her rights to the state of Hawaii where you were offered for adoption. The last we heard, a Navy family adopted you.
If there were only one thing I could say to you, it would be that you were loved. You are loved.
I have prayed for you your whole life. I've prayed you were well cared for and loved wherever you were. I have prayed also that you would some day seek your birth family and find me. The Internet has shrunk the world. There's a better chance of finding you today than ever before. So my hope and prayer now is that you'll find this blog. I would love to tell you about the rest of your family and that your mother truly did what was best for you.
I'm not even sure I've spelled your name correctly so if you find me, it will surely be an answer to prayer and by the direction of God :-)
Love and cyberhugs,
auntie anne
